Budget Version

Stay in hostels or budget guesthouses, eat at local chaikhanas and market stalls (try 'somsa' from street ovens), focus on exterior views of monuments, and use shared taxis instead of the faster Afrosiyob train.

Luxury Upgrade

Stay in boutique hotels like 'The Royal' in Samarkand or 'Sasha & Son' in Bukhara. Hire a private guide with a car for smooth, insightful touring. Dine at upscale restaurants like 'Old Bukhara' and enjoy a private traditional music performance.

Family-Friendly

Focus more on exploring the bazaars and open spaces like Lyabi-Hauz. Pace the sightseeing, perhaps choosing one major complex per morning/afternoon. The train ride between cities is an exciting experience for kids.
